Personality tests. Love them? Loathe them? Or know nothing about them?

Personality tests can be really useful for finding out your personality type, motivations, preferences, interests, behaviours, skills and character traits.
They can provide valuable insights into your strengths and weaknesses and can help you understand yourself and others better.
So how are personality tests used in life coaching?
As your coach, these tests can not only give us both a real insight into what makes you ‘tick’ but also how you fit into the world and how you relate to others.
They can help us understand why you’re unhappy at work or struggling in your relationships.
They can reveal insights you can’t see yourself.

By gaining this knowledge about your strengths, values and motivations, we can work together to explore ways in which you could live a more purposeful and fulfilling life.
On a personal level, they have certainly helped me see that I have many, many strengths and what it means to have those strengths.
As an example, one of my top strengths is kindness. Digging into this further means that I understand why I enjoy helping others by being collaborative and supportive and I like to develop meaningful relationships.
They have also helped me reframe what I thought were my weaknesses into strengths.
I have always thought of myself as indecisive. I actually have a strength of thinking things through from a variety of angles and seeking clarity before making decisions. That’s an incredible strength!
