Hair thinning and hair loss in menopause affects our confidence and self-esteem and from talking to many women, it’s clear that the changes to our hair in menopause can be alarming.

Whether it's dry hair, brittle hair, thinning hair, grey hair or severe androgenetic alopecia, changes to our hair health are a common symptom of the menopause.

I’m all about menopause health and wellbeing in my corner of the internet so knowing what to do to keep your menopausal hair looking and feeling good means seeking the wisdom of menopause and hair care experts.

And knowing where to start gathering resources for your hair health can be challenging.

Read on to discover my top 10 resources to help you achieve healthy menopause hair.

Yes, I’m all about virtual and online learning but sometimes you just need a good ol' book to get the job done.

And Menopausing is a bible for all things menopause.

Menopausing explores and explains the science, debunks the damaging myths that have held us back and smashes all of the taboos around the perimenopause and menopause.

It includes a whole chapter on the positive changes we can make to look our best - to improve our skin, make-up and hair - including ‘Michael’s Hair Masterclass’ from celebrity hairdresser Michael Douglas.

I have no idea what my menopause experience would look like without the sound of Dr Louise Newson in my ears.

She shares so much knowledge and is committed to increasing awareness of the perimenopause and menopause. She empowers women to have greater understanding, choice and control over their menopause treatment, body and mind.

Specific Episode Recommendation: ‘035 Hair Loss and Hormones’ is a great one on the subject of menopause and healthy hair.  Louise speaks to Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Sajjad Rajpar who explains how our hormones are important for healthy hair growth cycles and also for hair texture. They discuss in detail reasons why women experience menopause hair loss and the importance of having a holistic consultation to explore reasons why hair changes in menopause. Dr Rajpar talks about the different menopause hair loss treatment options and provides some simple advice which will help us all regarding our menopausal hair.

When I first started following hairdresser Michael Douglas @mdlondon on Instagram, I was just starting to struggle with my menopause hair thinning issues. Michael shares everything he knows about caring for our menopause hair, protecting our hair, making it look its best, which products to use…

Now Michael is someone I consistently refer to, and a great reminder that we have access to so much professional advice from so many different menopause angles! (And it’s a bonus that he’s the partner of menopause queen Davina McCall!)

Give Michael a follow.

In my early days of the perimenopause, when my hair was falling out in clumps and I was struggling with brain fog and horrendous mood swings, I was on the lookout for tips on simple lifestyle changes that I could make to feel and look better, but nothing felt quite right.

Every time I tried to get my menopause symptoms in check I kept getting stuck because I had no idea what to do.

What I really needed was something that would help show me very simple diet and lifestyle tips in a quick and easy way, without being overwhelmed, including how to nourish my menopause hair and skin from the inside. So I created it, and now you can save all that trial and error!
