Journalling is deeply personal.

As a coach for women, I've witnessed first hand the impact journalling can have on my clients.

There's no right or wrong way to do it—only the way that feels most authentic to you.

Journalling provides a safe space for self-reflection and exploration. By putting pen to paper, we tap into our deepest thoughts, emotions and desires. It allows us to gain a better understanding of ourselves, our values and what truly matters to us.

It's like having a conversation with our inner selves, paving the way for personal growth and self-discovery.

Your journal is a blank canvas. Express yourself through writing, doodling or even adding pictures and colours. Embrace your creativity and let it flow freely. You'll be amazed at the ideas, insights and inspiration that emerge when you give yourself the freedom to explore and create without judgment.

One of the incredible benefits of journalling is its ability to help you release thoughts from your mind and onto paper. Often, we carry a multitude of ideas, worries and emotions in our heads which can feel overwhelming. By journalling, you create an outlet to unload and organise your thoughts. As you write, you'll experience a sense of relief, mental clarity and space for new perspectives to emerge. It's like decluttering your mind and making room for fresh insights and ideas.

Here's how to start:

Set aside dedicated time

Carve out a quiet and uninterrupted space in your day where you can focus solely on journalling.

Find the perfect journal

Choose a journal that speaks to your heart, whether it's a beautiful notebook or a digital journalling app (I use ‘Day One Journal’).

Start with prompts

If you're unsure where to begin, use prompts like "What am I grateful for today?" or "What do I want to achieve this week?" to get your thoughts flowing.

Write freely and honestly

Don't worry about grammar or spelling; simply let your thoughts pour onto the pages without judgment or inhibition.

And here's some tips for success:

Make Journalling for Self-Discovery a habit

Consistency is key! Aim to journal regularly, even if it's just a few minutes each day.

Embrace vulnerability

Allow yourself to be open and honest. This is your personal space, so don't be afraid to explore your emotions and fears.

Reflect on past entries

Revisit your previous journal entries to see patterns, progress, and personal growth. Celebrate your wins and use your insights to guide your future actions.

Releasing your thoughts from the confines of your mind can help to guide you towards a more fulfilling and authentic life. Embrace the power of journalling!
